CARIGARA, LEYTE – Eastern Visayas State University – Carigara Campus (EVSU-CC) faculty and staff were among the key attendees at a special Teachers’ Day celebration organized and hosted by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Carigara on Friday, October 3, 2025.

The event, held in tribute to World Teachers’ Day, highlighted the crucial role educators play in the community and served as a gesture of appreciation from the LGU to all teaching personnel in the municipality. EVSU-CC’s participation, alongside teachers from other local public and private schools, underscored the united effort in recognizing the profession’s value.

LGU officials, led by Mayor Eduardo T. Ong Jr. extended their gratitude to the educators for their dedication. The municipal government utilized the gathering to reaffirm its commitment to supporting the education sector.

Dr. Renato E. Martija, Campus Director of EVSU-CC, thanked the LGU for ensuring that tertiary-level educators were included and honored in the town-wide celebration.

The event was a colorful display of retro attire worn by all participants. A highlight of the night was a dance contest where cash prizes awaited the winners, providing attendees with a well-deserved moment of camaraderie and relaxation.

The celebration is part of the Philippines’ National Teachers’ Month observance, which culminates every year on October 5, World Teachers’ Day. The initiative by the Carigara LGU serves as a tangible example of the strong town-and-gown relations necessary for local development.
