CARIGARA, LEYTE—The Eastern Visayas State University – Carigara Campus (EVSU-CC) officially launched its combined celebration of its Founding Anniversary, the University Students Welcome Activity and Gathering (USWAG), and the Campus Intramurals 2025 on Monday, October 6, 2025. The massive opening ceremony kicked off a week of integrated activities set to run until October 10, 2025.

The multi-event kickoff unifies three major institutional events: the yearly observance of the campus’s founding, the orientation for new students, and the annual sporting competition for students, faculty, and staff.

Campus Director, Dr. Renato E. Martija, conveyed his enthusiasm and warm welcome to the entire academic community during the opening program, stressing the importance of unity and holistic development.

The USWAG, which stands for “University Students Welcome Activity and Gathering” and is coined from the Waray word for “welcome,” served as the official initiation for the new batch of students, integrating them into the university community. The activity featured spirited performances and presentations from various departments, showcasing strong collegiate pride and camaraderie.

Simultaneously, the celebration marks the start of the campus’s annual Founding Anniversary festivities, a significant milestone that highlights EVSU-CC’s long-standing commitment to excellence in education and service.

The highly anticipated Intramurals 2025 is set to inject a competitive spirit into the celebration, with various colleges vying for supremacy in multiple athletic and cultural events throughout the week. The sports meet traditionally emphasizes not only physical fitness but also teamwork and sportsmanship within the EVSU-CC community.
