Cultural Tribute: EVSU-CC Embraces ASEAN Heritage Every 1st Monday

The Eastern Visayas State University—Carigara Campus has launched a unique cultural tribute by wearing ASEAN-inspired attire today, February 3, 2025. This practice establishes the first Monday of the month following the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Memorandum Circular No. 16, s. 2024. It promotes unity, diversity, and cultural awareness among students and faculty members.

By donning these traditional dresses, the EVSU-CC community reflects its appreciation for the rich cultural heritage of the ASEAN region. This cultural tribute also functions as an educational tool, enabling students to learn about the several traditions and customs of ASEAN member countries. Through embracing this cultural diversity, EVSU-CC nurtures the community and fosters cross-cultural understanding among its students and faculty members.

ASEAN stands for the “Association of Southeast Asian Nations,” which includes countries such as Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. It is an intergovernmental organization aimed at promoting economic, social, and political cooperation among member nations in Southeast Asia. It focuses primarily on maintaining regional peace and stability while advancing economic growth and cultural development throughout the region.
