CARIGARA, LEYTE — Dressed in a sea of purple, the Eastern Visayas State University- Carigara Campus (EVSU-CC) joined with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Carigara and various women from different organization in celebrating National Women’s Month through a spirited parade on March 11, 2026.
Under the national theme “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society,” the event served as both a tribute to women’s achievements and a loud call for continued progress in gender rights.
A Collaborative Spirit
The celebration, hosted by LGU Carigara under the leadership of Hon. Mayor Eduardo T. Ong, Jr., featured a colorful tapestry of participants. EVSU-Carigara’s contingent of women employees stood out, highlighting the academe’s vital role in the movement. The seamless coordination between the women’s organization and the municipality underscored a shared dedication to fostering an environment where women can thrive.
Beyond the Celebration
While the parade was festive, the underlying message remained serious. Participants and speakers highlighted the ongoing women’s commitment for justice, dignity, and unwavering commitment to advancement of women’s rights.
“Women’s Month is not just about celebrating; it’s about reflecting on women’s achievements and their profound contributions to society,” said Engr. Leo de Guzman, Gender and Development (GAD) Coordinator of EVSU-CC. “We must work together to create a world where every woman lives with dignity and equality.”
The celebration underscores EVSU-CC’s commitment to honoring women, recognizing them not only as the heart of the home but as pivotal drivers of societal change.
