EVSU-CC Faculty Co-Authors Award-Winning Paper at Regional Symposium

On 27-28 November 2024, EVSU Carigara Campus faculty and Head of the Research and Development Office, Instr. Ma. Theresa M. Salamida, participated and was awarded with best paper citation under the research category in the 36th Regional Research, Development, and Extension Symposium of the Visayas Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Resources Program (ViCARP) and the Eastern Visayas Agriculture and Fisheries Resources Research and Extension for Development Network (EViAFRREDN) held at the Visayas State University, Baybay City, Leyte.

Her paper, co-authored with the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute–Marine Fisheries Research and Development Center (NFRDI-MFRDC), titled “Population dynamics of spiny lobsters (Panulirus spp.) using size-structured models and implications for management in Eastern Visayas, Philippines,” highlighted the population characteristics and exploitation status of spiny lobsters in the region. The study proposed size-based catch regulations to address overexploitation and promote sustainable management.

The symposium, organized by ViCARP and EViAFRREDN, brought together researchers to exchange knowledge on agriculture and fisheries RDE. EVSU Carigara Campus commends Instr. Salamida for her outstanding contribution to regional research and development.
