EVSU-CC Unveils KAANDAMAN Project and Stakeholders Meeting

The Eastern Visayas State University-Carigara Campus (EVSU-CC), through its Information Technology (IT) Department, unveiled the KAANDAMAN project during a stakeholders meeting at the Local Government Unit of Carigara, Leyte on March 19, 2025. This groundbreaking initiative aims to equip women and children with essential knowledge and skills in climate and hazard mitigation, enhancing community resilience against climate-related emergencies through innovative technology.

The KAANDAMAN project falls under the DIGITALS (Digital Growth in Information Technology through the Accessibility of Learning Skills) program. It focuses on empowering vulnerable sectors—particularly women and schoolchildren—by providing them with the tools and knowledge needed to mitigate the effects of climate hazards and develop effective safety strategies for themselves and their communities.

The program will be implemented across several barangays, including East Visoria, Barugohay Norte, Parena, Guindapunan East, and Guindapunan West in Carigara, Leyte, as well as Brgy. San Pedro in Tunga, Leyte. These areas have been selected as the initial beneficiaries, with the project aiming to establish an effective alert system that will help residents—especially women and children—seek assistance during emergencies.

The KAANDAMAN project, under the DIGITALS program, is spearheaded by Information Technology , Instructor Teodora Arlene D. Cebu , the Department Head. This initiative represents a major step in EVSU-CC’s mission to support and empower vulnerable sectors by integrating education, technology, and community outreach. By strengthening the capacity of women and children in climate and hazard mitigation, the project aims to foster greater community resilience in the face of increasing environmental challenges.
