Carigara, Leyte – Eastern Visayas State University–Carigara Campus (EVSU-CC) held its annual Recognition Rites on June 10, 2025, at the EVSU-CC Mini Gymnasium, celebrating the outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements of its students. The event brought together parents, faculty members, university officials, and students in a meaningful gathering that highlighted the institution’s unwavering commitment to excellence and holistic student development.
University leaders and faculty members proudly presented awards to students who demonstrated exceptional performance throughout the academic year. Recognitions were given across various categories, including leadership, service, and scholarship—reinforcing EVSU-CC’s mission to cultivate student growth and success.
A highlight of the ceremony was the inspiring message delivered by the distinguished guest speaker, Ms. Loreginia P. Briones, an accomplished alumna of EVSU-CC. Ms. Briones graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Fishery Technology and currently serves as Agricultural Center Chief II at the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 8 (BFAR8). She also holds the position of Officer-in-Charge at the Coastal Resources Management Center in Diit, Tacloban City, where she oversees the Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) Boat-Making Facility.
In her address, Ms. Briones emphasized the transformative power of education and the importance of sharing knowledge. She remarked, “Excellence, after all, is not about being correct but about being thoughtful, principled, and intentional in all that you do… Teach not just with words but with true action… Share your knowledge, share your experience. Huwag mong ipagdamot ang natutunan mo, baka iyan ang sagot sa tanong nila.” Her words resonated deeply with the audience, encouraging students to pursue their academic and personal journeys with resilience and purpose.
As the event concluded, students left with a renewed sense of motivation to strive for excellence in their respective fields. EVSU-CC once again affirmed its commitment to nurturing potential and honoring hard work—laying the foundation for even greater achievements in the years to come.
